The Lusheng

Mortise and Tenon Structure

The mortise and tenon structure, a unique feature of traditional Chinese architecture, embodies the essence of harmonious coexistence between man and nature. This ancient carpentry technique involves fitting together wooden pieces without the use of nails or glue, relying solely on the precision and interlocking design of the mortise (the hole) and the tenon (the protruding part). This structure not only ensures durability but also showcases the beauty of simplicity and functionality.

It offers students an invaluable opportunity to appreciate the depth and sophistication of traditional Chinese craftsmanship.
